The shoe drive, organized by Podiatrist, Dr. Monique Mitchell, and supported by Family Medicine Center, was a huge success! The initiative received an overwhelming response, with more than 400 pairs of new and gently used shoes donated.

People even went out of their way to purchase shoes specifically to donate to this cause. Nurse Anita Cates said that she was impressed with the quality and variety of shoes being donated. To say the efforts were appreciated is an understatement. People came out in droves and within a short period of time, all the shoes were in the hands of people who need them.

Dr. Monique Mitchell expressed her gratitude in a brief message to Nurse Cates, who got personally involved doing shoe pick-ups.

“It was awesome. OMG, it was sooo good. All the shoes are gone,” she said, “Thank you so much, you made all this possible.”

That message goes for everyone involved. Thank you to everyone from the organizers, to the drop-off sites, volunteers, and especially our compassionate and caring community who truly made all this possible, and put soles on souls.
