Happy Earth Day!

Earth Day, is a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment. Earth Day was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in first held on April 22, 1970.

While this first Earth Day was focused on the United States, an organization launched by Denis Hayes, who was the original national coordinator in 1970, took it international in 1990 and organized events in 141 nations. Earth Day is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network, and is celebrated in more than 175 countries every year.

Numerous communities celebrate Earth Week, an entire week of activities focused on environmental issues.
Come on Bahamas, lets join in and start a conversation, find out what we can do for our environment, and do it!

SNEAK PEEK! Find out what artists Leanne Russell and Chris Symonette have done with unwanted materials. Celebrate Earth Day with the The Salus Project. May 1st, 7pm at NPCC, The Ladder Gallery. See you there!

Digging deep in the bushes of Fox Hill, June Collie has found an object that forces her to stick her fingers into an industrial medium.

Wellness Is The Best ‘Defense’ :-)

“Wellness” was the topic presented by Anita Cates on 7th April at The Defense Force.

“I really enjoy facilitating lively discussions with people about wellness,” said Anita.

“I enjoy listening to other people’s ideas and how they are making changes in their lives. Interestingly most people only focus on the physical aspects of Wellness. Discussing Wellness through the 5 dimensions of physical, emotional, spiritual, social and financial brings awareness to areas we might not normally focus on”.

“It is always a pleasure to spend time at the base, The Defense Force is open to new ideas concepts and are willing to share a joke and be a part of the presentation”

Building Progress… Feeling The Excitement

Here are the latest pictures of the new building.

The team at Family Medicine Center and Diabetes Education Network cannot wait to move. With the new building comes new opportunities to provide additional services and expand our patient education classes. Dr Cates and myself have always asked the question how can we improve our level of care? This building will enable the team to expand and continue make a positive difference in people’s lives and their family’s.

When is the move? We have our fingers crossed for July.

Thank you so much for your continued support.
